Michael Robert Boland, MBChB, FRCS, FRACS

University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Orthopaedic Surgery

I have recently moved my private practice office, previously at Southern Cross North Harbour, to Northcare at 5 Home Place, in Rosedale, just off Constellation drive. I have now been in practice on the North Shore for 9 years, returning to New Zealand after 12 years overseas. I qualified as an orthopaedic surgeon in New Zealand in 1996 and spent 5 years in Queensland and 7 years in the United States, primarily in Academic University positions, including the last 6 years as Chief of hand surgery at the University of Kentucky, USA. I spent 12 months in fellowship at the world famous Kleinert Institute in Louisville Kentucky before taking up practice at the University. For primarily family reasons I return to New Zealand and have continued a particular interest in ulnar sided wrist pain, lecturing on this subject at multiple international meetings. My team at the Bioengineering Institute of the University of Auckland have recently received a large Lottery Board grant to continue research into ulnar wrist biomechanics. I have a particular interest in further education and development of wrist surgery in the Asia Pacific region being an editor of the Journal of Hand Surgery and the New Zealand Hand Surgery Society International delegate.

I am happy to see patients with hand, wrist and elbow abnormalities in my new office at Northcare.
